Abstract

Introduction: The branchial cyst or cervical lymphoepithelial cyst is a soft, smooth or lobulated malformation, located in the neck, in front of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, at the level of the hyoid bone.

Objective: To describe the clinical surgical procedure used in a patient with brachial cyst with heterotopic gland tissue inside.

Clinical Case report:  This is the case of a 72 year-old female patient with previous health history, who attended the consultation of the department of maxillofacial surgery at Orlando Pantoja Tamayo Hospital, for having a mass in her neck that caused her difficulty in performing movements. She underwent surgery and the tumor resection was performed. The postoperative evolution was satisfactory.

Conclusions: Banchial cysts are rare at this age, but they can occasionally appear and exceptionally with glandular tissue inside. Therefore, the follow-up must be exhaustive, since they can recur and or become malignant.
