Abstract

Introduction: The nasal pyramid frequently presents deviations in relation to the sagittal axis, which negatively affects facial aesthetics. The protocol for the treatment of complex nasal deformities at the Hospital “Hermanos Ameijeiras” includes primary and secondary rhinoseptal deviations.

Objective: Evaluate the correction of the deviated nasal axis, according to the origin of the deviation and the surgical approach.

Method: An analytical study of the modification of the nasal axis was carried out with standardized and compared photographs of the pre and postoperative period and the results obtained were related, according to the origin of the deformity, type of deviation and the surgical approach route.

Results: Of the patients who had a deviated axis preoperatively, 74.4 % had total correction and 24.3 % partial correction postoperatively. According to the origin of the deformity and taking into account the percentage of cases that had total correction of the deviation in the postoperative period, the best results were obtained in the post-traumatic deviations with 100 % total correction and in the rectification of the axis angulation. nasal straight lateralized in relation to the deviation of the nasal axis deviated in C. The approach route did not significantly determine the correction of the deviated nasal axis.

Conclusions: The nasal axis according to a standardized photographic study allows evaluating the postoperative correction of nasal deviations. The protocol for the treatment of complex nasal deformities at the “Hermanos Ameijeiras” Hospital, has good results in correcting nasal deviations.
