Abstract

Introduction: Pott's inflammatory tumor consists of a soft increase in volume in the frontal area produced by a subperiosteal abscess secondary to osteomyelitis of the frontal bone. It is considered a rare complication of frontal sinusitis, although it has also been described in head trauma.

Objective: Describe the symptoms of a patient with Pott's inflammatory tumor.

Clinical case: 15-year-old male patient with fever and general symptoms; An increase in volume was observed in the bilateral frontal and parietal region, fluctuating and painful on palpation. A CT scan was performed and a Pott's inflammatory tumor was diagnosed.

Conclusions: Pott's inflammatory tumor is a very rare entity, which should be suspected as a serious complication of frontal sinusitis in pediatric and adult patients. Early diagnosis and treatment of this disease are essential to avoid intracranial complications. An endoscopic approach combined with prolonged antibiotic therapy is the essential therapy in these patients.
