Abstract

Introduction: Linguistic skills are a set of abilities that allow effective communication with other people. The child in the preschool stage has an outstanding development of the skills to listen, understand, speak and dialogue. The year 2020 was marked by the global upheaval due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the preventive social isolation measures had a profound impact on the population and those most affected were infants, since integration is of great importance for language development. social.

Objective: To investigate the linguistic skills of preschool children in the post-COVID-19 stage.

Methods: Google Scholar, Scopus, SciELO and PubMed databases were consulted.

Conclusions: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on language skills in preschool age is a recently addressed topic and information continues to be scarce; however, limited social interaction during this stage resulted in fewer opportunities to practice and improve children's language skills.
