Abstract

Introduction: The tendency of society in recent years to migrate to large cities, seeking better socioeconomic opportunities, has led to an increase in the urban population; but at the same time, to the increase in the automotive, industrial and commercial sector, in direct relation to the daily activities carried out in them. In this social context, noise levels exceed the permitted threshold.

Objective: update knowledge related to noise pollution and its impact on people's social lives.

Conclusions: Noise pollution is a social phenomenon that attacks man and the environment. Its cause is measurable and it is possible to detect the conditions that produce it. There is a need for governments to increase measures to control this phenomenon and raise awareness among the population in the fight against this invisible enemy called “noise”.
