Authors

Abstract

Introduction: Orosinusal communication is a pathological condition that is characterized by there being a gap between the mouth and the maxillary sinus.

Objective: To describe the closure of the right mediate orosinusal communication with a pedicled Bichat fatty ball flap.

Clinical case: A 59-year-old male patient with a history of Diabetes mellitus, who since 2021 has experienced fluid discharge from the nose, a feeling of fullness in the right maxillary sinus, paresthesia, and slight pain in the buccal region on that side. Despite surgical failures, the closure of the communication was achieved using a Bichat fat pad.

Conclusions: Buccosinus communications present various surgical techniques for closure, one of the methods is the flap with the Bichat fat pad, this procedure presents a series of anatomical elements in terms of elasticity and good blood supply, which provides a good therapeutic option and its results are satisfactory.
