Abstract

Introduction: Laryngo-tracheal stenosis is a problem of high clinical and therapeutic importance, relatively infrequent related to other diseases of the respiratory system.

Objective: To determine the behavior of laryngotracheal stenosis.

Methods: An observational, descriptive and ambispective longitudinal study was carried out at Calixto García Surgical Clinical Hospital in Havana, from 2015 to 2020. Fifteen patients made up the sample.

Results: Most of the patients were older than 40 years, higher predominance was observed in the group older than 60 years (40.0%). Smoking was the most frequent toxic habit. The cause of stenosis was prolonged post-intubation.

Conclusions: Grade I stenosis is the most frequent, according to Cotton's classification; transoral tracheal endoscopic surgery is the most used. There is currently an increase in laryngotracheal stenosis because its management is complex and requires a multidisciplinary team.
