Abstract

Introduction: Otorhinolaryngology / Neurosurgery teamwork is essential to achieve success in surgery of the sellar and parasellar region, it is what is today called 4-handed work, with very well defined times and phases of surgery. The experience of the surgical team of the National Center for Minimal Access Surgery is exposed in this work.

Objective: To describe the different phases of the approach to the sellar region, in surgical team work in Otorhinolaryngology/Neurosurgery.

Methods: A bibliographic review of printed texts and an internet search was carried out on the different phases of approach to the sellar region and to parasellar, performing the four-handed surgery.

Conclusions: In the minimal access surgery center, the first pituitary approaches were performed in a four-handed Otorhinolaryngology/Neurosurgery teamwork since 2008, with a growing learning curve in both the resection and floor reconstruction techniques. seal after surgery. It has been possible to standardize the technique and its surgical times, with the otolaryngologist playing an important role in the transnasal approach until the sellar region is exposed, as well as his participation as part of the team during the resection and the reconstruction phase.
