Introduction: Laryngeal cancer is the second most common cancer of the head and neck. Accepted treatment modalities in the treatment of laryngeal cancer include surgery, radiation therapy (RT), and chemotherapy.

Information analysis and synthesis: The Radiation therapy preserves laryngeal structures and increases surgical exposure to achieve excellent oncological results. Transoral laser microscopic surgery (TLM) has become the mainstay of surgical treatment for early stage glottic and supraglottic tumors. In stage III, surgery is no longer the first treatment option, as it has been replaced by organ preservation with concomitant radiation therapy, either with cetuximab or platinum salts.
Conclusions: Minimal access techniques have become the mainstay of treatment for early stages of supraglottic tumors. Bilateral elective cervical dissection is accepted as a standard treatment for these lesions and total laryngectomy is the therapy with the best results for stage IV disease.
