Introduction: Dysphonia has also been included among the causes of occupational diseases, since it is suffered at some point in the exercise of the profession in various stages or levels of severity, by a large part of those who use the voice as a work tool.
Objective: To determine the concordance of the clinical and laryngoscopic diagnosis with the results of the histopathological study of these lesions.
Methods: An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional investigation of 152 dysphonic patients older than 20 years, operated as a consequence of benign tumors of the larynx in the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the "Saturnino Lora Torres" Surgical Clinical University Hospital of Santiago de Cuba, since January 2015 was carried out. until December 2016.
Results: In the series, the male sex predominated (56.6 %), the age group of 45-54 years (28.9 %), smokers in 77.6 %, and more than three quarters of the tumors diagnosed by laryngoscopy were polyps (83.6 %).
Conclusions: The clinical method is very useful to correctly identify the tumoral lesions of the larynx, since there was a high concordance between the presumptive diagnosis and the histological study of these, verified through statistical tests.
