The nursing perspective, the art of caring around the primary caregiver

Abstract

Introduction: Nursing, science of family, individual and community care. It is an interpersonal relationship where both, the nurse and the person, meet to jointly carry out a series of actions aimed at maintaining or recovering health.

Objective: Describe the importance of nursing in the art of caring around the primary caregiver.

Methods: Systematic bibliographic review by searching the scientific literature in the databases: SciELO Regional, PubMed, Science Direct, and Cochrane l between the years 2004 and 2022 in English and Spanish.

Conclusions: It is important to recognize the role of the caregiver and the family of the patient, accepting them as such to avoid their giving up, through integrated, coordinated, planned, feasible and proactive actions, it is essential to establish an alliance of cooperation and teamwork between the different actors involved: the person with the chronic and dependent disease, the caregiver, the family and the professionals of the social and health team responsible for the patient care process to give the most appropriate response in the different stages of disease evolution, trying to respect at all times the needs, values and beliefs of the person to whom we provide care.
