Introduction: Sialolithiasisis a common disease of the salivary glands characterized by the presence of calculi in the salivary duct system.
Objective: To describe a clinical case with a diagnosis of sialolithiasis in the submandibular gland.
Clinical case: A 41-year-old male patient, with a history of good health, attended the Maxillofacial service with a history that approximately two years ago he began to notice a discrete volume in the submandibular region on the right side and was accompanied by type pain. "colic", which increases and hurts during food intake, a series of laboratory and radiological complementary tests are indicated, it is decided to perform intraoral canalicular sialolectomy as a surgical technique.
Conclusions: Although sialolithiasis in the salivary glands is frequent, it is unusual to detect them of large size, this can trigger obstructive symptoms in the duct and inflammation, with swelling and pain of the affected gland, so it is necessary to know the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the salivary glands. the same, in addition to the correct diagnosis and treatment that in these cases progress favorably.
